My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? This year I have had a hard time helping my students to find books that they love, but I have not yet introduced them to Michael Buckley.

This year I have 14 students who are reading below grade level.

I believe that falling in love with reading is vital to becoming a successful reader. I have many students who too frequently do not finish a book they start, and that can be changed through this project.

My Project

I first read the Sisters Grimm book 2 years ago to my class. My class fell in love with the book, and so did I. They did not want me to stop reading it to them, and I began to see students love books. After finishing the first one students would beg to read the rest of the series. I had students who had really struggled to find a book that interested them, and kept them reading, who would finish Sisters Grimm books in a few days. Normally I read this book to my class. This year I would love for my students to have the chance to follow along, and have a chance to read it.

I think that with my students following along it may help to not only keep them interested, but will help to build their fluency.

I would love to see my students not be able to put a book down, and I think Sisters Grimm will spark that love in many of my students.
