Our school may be small, but it is mighty! Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation.
This project will reach all 150 students within the 7th & 8th grades.
Being a school that has experienced budget cuts, we have not been able to receive funding for a classroom set of a book that we would like our students to experience. The Silence of Murder by Dandi Daley Mackall is a riveting book about a sister who is helping to prove her mute brother's innocence. We would love to receive enough funding to have a classroom set of these books so that students could experience an award winning book as part of our mystery unit.
This project is meant to help our students grow into people who love to read. Our students in the middle school have really taken an interest in different mystery novels that we have in our classroom libraries. We, as their teachers, would like to take their interests and include them into our reading curriculum by working through a mystery unit.
As a Reading team, we would like to get funding to provide enough copies of the novel The Silence of Murder by Dandi Daley Mackall in order for us to enjoy this young adult mystery novel together.
By getting a classroom set of these books, we would like to create a fun novel study that not only ties in core literature elements but is also fun, exciting, and engaging!
