The JFMS P.S. #38 Drama Club is comprised of students between the ages of 7-12 years old. These children are enthusiastic and passionate to collaborate with their peers and teachers. Seeing them perform you would think they have had years of formal training. You would be surprised to learn it is the heart, soul, and self-determination of the young children led by dedicated P.S. #38 teachers and supported by our principal that inspires them to have the confidence that electrifies the JFMS stage. Due to COVID-19 and CDC restrictions, the children have not been able to return to school. Presently, the remote online learning is meeting their academic requirements. Nevertheless, the children are missing their appreciation for the Performing Arts. They are eager to share their love for musical theatre and want to entertain their school community during this very sad and challenging time in all of our lives.
My Project
As the Producer/Director of the JFMS Drama Club, my goal for this project is to bring the magic of the Performing Arts to our virtual stage. The students and the teachers of the JFMS P.S. #38 Drama Club want to assure the school community that where there is a will, there is a way. We may not be back at school, but with remote collaboration we can still rehearse, perform, and create the magic of musical theatre with Music Theatre International's Online Editions.
The Show Can Go On...with your help.
Our past productions have become possible due to the generous donations of our school community and fundraisers held to raise money for the productions expenses. Since we have not been able to return to school, and there are so many families with financial obligations, we have not had any activities to raise money. We are humbly asking for your help to purchase the license for MTI's Hans Christian Andersen Online Edition. These materials will give us the license, script, and music to perform our annual spring production. This family-friendly musical will give our cast the chance to connect with each other while exciting our digital audience.
Lights, Camera, Action....We are hoping to have our school community sit back and enjoy the show!
