The Shakespearean Experience

My students need 1-5 copies of 12 various books, videos, and DVDs written by William Shakespeare.

I teach 11th grade English to a wonderful group of students whom I have exposed to the world of Shakespeare and now they love his work and are begging for more.

Unfortunately I do not have an extensive Shakespearean library for my students to select from. These students initially found Shakespeare to be boring and a bit challenging, however, I have made Shakespeare “fun” and my students are begging for more when they come to class. Through regular class participation and the opportunity to read aloud in class, my overall attendance has increased. I attribute this to our unit on William Shakespeare.

I am currently teaching Othello in class and this is the first Shakespearean piece to which many of my students have ever been exposed. I am asking for several works by Shakespeare (i.e. books, videos) that will be used for my slower-paced learners, as well as my honors students.

I ask that you please support these young adults. They have been exposed to one of the most acclaimed authors ever and I want to keep their momentum by allowing them to read other pieces that he has contributed to English literature.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
