The Secret to Reading

My Students

I teach kindergarten in a school that is a combined district of two small rural villages. The majority of our students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. The families we work with are loving and supportive. It is a joy to go to work each day and share my love of learning with these happy, curious children.

My kindergarten class is full of wonderful little boys and girls who are eager to learn about and explore the world around them.

They are very energetic and inquisitive. Hands-on and real-life experiences are key to staying engaged and interested. These experiences help kindergarten children open their eyes to the possibilities of what they can accomplish through learning and trying new and different ways of doing things.

My Project

The Secret Stories Phonics kit and Phonics Flash Cards will be used daily to activate the social emotional learning channels with multi sensory reading instruction. The kit includes everything necessary for effective phonics instruction. Whimsically colored decorative square phonics posters, phonics book, brain teaser blending cards, and phonics song download. The flash cards include a mini set of the posters with the “secrets” on the back to use in whole group and in small group instruction.

Mounting the posters will allow differentiated learning and students can access higher level phonics sounds as they become ready.
