Help me give my students a engaging virtual learning experiences where we can interact and see each other by using a monitor for access to two screens for remote learning.
I am a New York City public school educator. I am a part of a district which is a cohort of many schools across our city and has the highest amount of special needs students. Our district is specifically designed to educate students with disabilities. My students have Autism and multiple disabilities. They are also economically disadvantaged.
Our district works a 12-month program, so it is essential to have appropriate educational materials and curriculum to support them and meet their individualized learning needs.
I teach students with disabilities, and 100% of my students qualify for free and reduced-priced lunch. Students often come to us with many struggles from home. I want their education to be fun and exciting. In District 75 many of our students are medically fragile and cannot always attend school in person. Full remote learning at this moment is their only option, which can be difficult due to their disabilities.
My students are some of the most disadvantaged students in New York. I want to ensure that we can meet their needs and encourage their learning. My students deserve an education just like students who can attend school in person during this pandemic!
My Project
During this unprecedented time, making the lives of my students easier and more accessible is very important. I need all the tools necessary to make teaching fun and engaging. When teaching during remote learning, two screens will help make the instruction a much more enjoyable experience for my students.
With the use of two screens, I can see my students, while presenting my lesson and it will allow me to engage my students in a more creative, accessible and substantial way.
One of the biggest issues I find is wait time. Using two screens, their wait time is eliminated. I have the ability to more smoothly from one activity to another, I also have the ability to easily read the chat and address questions of staff and students in a timely manner. Before, I had to switch back and forth between different pages, different tabs, different presentations and hope not to miss anything from my students, which sadly happened often because if I was presenting I could not see them. This eliminates all of these issues. Two screens make everything possible and nothing impossible anymore! Thank you for your help in advance.
