This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic and eager readers. They enjoy curling up with a great book and sharing stories with their friends, teachers and families.

On any given day in my classroom I hear students recommending a book to one of their peers or saying, "let me read you this page!"

My Project

Every morning when students enter the classroom they have the opportunity to go book shopping before we begin morning meeting. This means they can browse and pick books to keep in their book bin to read throughout the day.

Online platforms like Epic have made it so students can read books online, but any true book worm knows the magic of holding a book and turning real pages cannot be replicated on a computer.

The addition of these books to our new, Second Grade Traveling Library, will allow each student to pick out plenty of books to last them until the library's next visit!
