The Science of Clean Air

My Students

This year, I am going into my fifth year of teaching. I am moving back to 4th grade after being in 3rd grade for the last two years. My students learn in a Title I school near a military base. Many of our students have experienced some type of family transition (single-parent home, blended family, divorce/separation, low income, etc.).

No child should feel held back from learning because they don't have the necessary materials in the classroom.

I want to see every one of my students succeed in and out of the classroom. With the proper materials, I am positive it will make a major, positive impact in my classroom!

My Project

Our class is requesting two Air Purifiers to use not only as a study tool, but to clean out the classroom and to break down pollutants including viruses, bacteria, mold, allergens, and chemicals. Our class will learn about PECO purification and how the filters capture, oxidize, and then destroy harmful chemicals in the air that we breathe. Some of the chemicals and science topics we will discuss include RNA and DNA viruses and learn about toxic organic compounds like formaldehyde. Thank you for not only helping clean the air we breathe but for helping us learn new science terms in the process!
