Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my 6th year of teaching. I have taught both internationally and nationally. My experiences have taught me that students, no matter the age, learn best by doing. It is my goal to provide as many active learning situations as possible. I am technology driven individual and strive to bring as much technology into the classroom whether it is through STEAM projects, apps, or project-based learning. My school serves a low-income area of San Bernadino, CA. The majority of the population are English Learners.
The school is a K-6 and serves over 700 children and has fantastic teachers who love their students.
The goal is to prepare every student for college and career readiness no matter their income. To prepare students to be productive citizens of a global society.
My Project
I envision my students working together to build cube robots in order to develop a basic understanding of Robotics. The Cube robots will be a perfect fit to introduce the field of robotics to my 2nd graders. We have been exploring the E in STEM for sometime now through building challenges and exploration. Now I would like to take it further and introduce robotics to them. With the hopes this project will take us down the road of coding in the future! The National Geographic issue on robotics will be used to provided paired reading opportunities to first build background knowledge on robotics.
Donations to my project will help shape the future as students are exposed to cutting edge technology.
It is my goal for them to discover a whole new world of learning, play and adventure. Access to this technology will inspire them to do great things and will encourage them to want to seek a career in a field such as Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics. Their futures will be brighter as a result of this project being funded!
