My Students

"If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in a way that the child can learn." - unknown author

My school has a high percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients.

We also have a large diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

This year, I have a mixed ability group consisting of nine boys and eleven girls. Some have grasped reading skills at a faster rate than others, and some need a little more time. They are eager to learn.

My Project

My students always do a snow unit each year. I have revamped it to include STEM. This means it is a hands-on project that includes Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. They read books about snow each year and complete a project where they pick one location and try to recreate it using art. This year, I would love to have more technology involved. I am asking for a snow machine so each group can "recreate" their location by not just drawing but actually building it. They will also create igloos or landmarks if they are included in their location. They will use science and math to recreate by using measurements and data. They will use science and engineering by constructing. The snow machine, snow juice, and wireless remote will allow them to provide the one main component of the project—snow! Please consider this tech project!
