My students need 2 sturdy, round tables to allow all students equal opportunity to speak and be heard as a leader in the group.

Fifth graders love to talk and help each other learn. Talking, sharing, and discussing the current book they are reading, and working together to create projects are all ways that students grow as speakers and listeners. Meaningful learning happens around a table, knees in the chair, sharing with friends.
Our school is located in a small, rural town with very few industries.
The students in our school are the greatest. They work super hard and their great behavior and super attitudes help them succeed every day. We are a Title I school with 74% of students receiving free or reduced lunch.
While our school is clean and well maintained, it was not built for the age children that we now serve. Our rooms are small and are packed with rectangular shaped desks which can be shoved together temporarily to form cooperative groups. My students need sturdy round tables, as they often get so involved in activities that they lean on the table with half or more of their bodies. These large round tables will allow students to form groups of three to five easily. Circular tables allow all students equal opportunity to speak and be heard as a leader in the group. The students will learn to speak and to listen to each other clearly.
Getting these tables will allow the students to form learning groups of different sizes and to easily, and equally discuss and communicate with each other.
At a circular table there is no head of the table or preferred seating. Every student will be an equal.
