My students need hands on materials to better understand rocks and minerals and the rock cycle.

My Students

Imagine trying to determine a mineral's hardness with out being able to feel it. This is what my students are faced with.

Most of my students come from under privileged backgrounds.

I have a lot of Hispanic students that have not developed the vocabulary they need. All of the students are very eager and excited about science. I would love to keep them interested by including more hands-on activities.

My Project

Through using the classroom set of rocks and minerals and the rock cycle poster and game my students will be able to feel and see how the rock cycle works. They will be able to feel each rock instead of looking at it in a picture. I have a lot of hands-on learners and this will benefit this style of learning.

I think that this will make a difference in the students understanding if they were able to see the rocks and minerals up close.

This will really help the Hispanic students gain more knowledge and vocabulary.
