My students need a digital projector so that they can research and view, as a class, historical events like the Roaring Twenties.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It is a constant struggle to capture and maintain the interest of students. There are few students who are not interested in interacting with a computer. A netbook and projector would tremendously change the classroom.
My intelligent at-risk students aspire to completing an Associates degree while completing their high school studies in the poorest congressional district in the United States.
These young people, who will be the first in their families to get college degrees, are hard workers who will pass state exams and go on to take Advanced Placement classes. These persistent hard workers are striving to make the jump from the tough streets of New York to top colleges. With a little bit of help, they will be sure to achieve their dreams.
My Project
Teaching Social Studies without a computer is archaic. Social Studies is a subject that seems to demand the use of computers in the classroom. A netbook and projector will enable the students to create a documentary on the Roaring '20's. The project will be performed by dividing the class into groups and assigning various topics to the groups. The students will research a topic, narrate it into the computer, then find pictures to match the narrations. They will be using a program called Movie Maker.
The project will teach the learners many things: how to research, how to be successful as a group, and how to use the many facets of technology to create a prideful final product.
The hidden agenda of the project is to hook the students on a time period.
It will show them how interesting a time period can be, and create a desire to study other periods. Imagine the interest of the students when it is uncovered that a Great Depression followed the Roaring '20's.
