The students from my class are so creative and brilliant. My students come from a variety of backgrounds primarily from the heart of downtown. They have such varying interests and experiences. These kids are active and eager learners. They are helpful and kind to one another and they love getting to make choices in their learning and their activities. Many of them have never traveled outside the city and for some, school is their sanctuary.
I love providing my students the opportunity to create.
They are inspired by buildings in our downtown school and love to share their discoveries and creations with each other. Having them work on creative projects and listen to each other present gives them confidence and expands their learning.
My Project
Having a variety of building blocks and Manipulative Libraries will not only bring joy to my students, but will foster divergent thinking and inspire new ideas in young minds. Ideas are what the world pays for and having opportunities to solve problems, creating things, and putting parts together, ensures students' future successes. "We all have creative potential. Our job as parents and teachers is to help children fulfill it." says Mark Runco, Ph.D., director of the University of Georgia's Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development. If you've ever watched children at play, you know they're fascinated by building things and taking them apart.
Donors to this project can cultivate strong creative thinkers in my classroom and produce future problem solvers.
These hands-on materials will make a difference in my students' learning by providing free-choice play, help them with problem solving and foster creative thinking.
