My Students
My third graders are just amazing. They are full of questions about everything and genuinely love learning. Any given lesson may turn into a spider web of other questions must be answered in order for their thirst for knowledge to be quenched.
Sadly, many of their homes and lives were changed by a recent hurricane that effected our area.
Many students are currently living without their normal comfort items. Upon acclimating to their new normal routines, they will need as much emotional support as they can get.
My Project
Hurricane Michael tore through the communities in Panama City on October 10th. Our city will never be the same. Our students' lives will forever be changed. While some families suffered only minor damages, others lost EVERYTHING. We are beginning school again and my aim is to bring happy, hopeful, and bright moments into the classroom for my students.
The art kits I'm requesting as Christmas gifts for my students will serve as a creative outlet to help them deal with the emotions they are feeling because of the hurricane.
With time, love, and grace, I know my students' wounds will heal.
