My Students

The students at my school are a wonderful, diverse group of learners. Many of which are new to our country. I teach in the town that I went to school in and feel an even closer connection to the community as a result. Many of my students struggle with basic needs so if I can help provide them with the tools they need to be successful who knows what they could excel at in the future. When students have the tools they need, they can achieve great things.

My Project

My students are excited about doing lab investigations in Science. However, having poor measuring equipment can be frustrating and take the focus and excitement away. Having electronic balances would make measuring easier and more accurate. Students would be able to focus their attention on the content of the lab and make the experience more authentic because they would be using the same equipment "real" scientists would use. These balances would be used throughout the year on a variety of lab investigations covering general science content. I could also share them with my two colleagues so the equipment would be used by 300 plus students.
