My students need tights for performance purposes. In order to save parents from having to purchase tights for their student, the school would own a class set of tights that students could borrow for performances.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.
They like to move, they love to create and love lots of positive attention. They especially enjoy learning dances of different cultures and genres. Performance preparation is their favorite time of the year.
My Project
A class set of tights will be worn by students in performances. These tights will allow students to perform onstage in a wider variety of costumes. The school provides costumes for students to wear onstage, but not all students have the proper tights to wear underneath. This project saves parents the responsibility of buying proper tights for their student. Our town has very few stores that sell the items students need. Also, offering different colored tights to students allow their costume to better match their skin color. When a student feels good in their costume, their performance is truly enhanced!
