Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students that I work with are very excited about learning and curious about the world around them. My students love a warm and friendly environment to work with their classmates. An environment that they feel safe in, feel inspired to work in, and encouraged to get their tasks completed. Based in a small city in South Jersey, my public elementary school is a diverse community of learners. From many different cultural, socioeconomic, and language backgrounds, we share our many different experiences with each other. Our student population includes many high-needs learners and over 90% of our student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch due to the family's low socioeconomic status.
Despite the difficulties my students endure in and out of the classroom, they truly enjoy coming to school.
It is great to see all of my students collaborating and having fun working together! The best way to do this is with flexible seating and your help.
My Project
My project is to add flexible seating to my third-grade classroom. There are a few other items that we need around the classroom but most of them are for the purpose of flexible seating. With flexible seating the students will have the opportunity to feel more comfortable in the classroom and learn in the style and setting that suits them best. I will give my students choices of what kind of seating they could use. I feel the flexible seating model will help my students create many successful projects. Unfortunately, flexible seating is extremely expensive, our classroom would greatly appreciate any help that anyone has to offer us to reach our goal. This would make the students incredibly happy, comfortable, and ready to learn!
