My Students

Our amazing, resilient first graders are working hard to overcome many challenges during virtual learning. Our families, school, and community are supportive in countless ways of our students. We have just over 400 students in our school and 70% of them qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Approximately 1 in 10 of our students experiences homelessness during the school year. It's difficult for most 6 - 7 year-olds to learn and practice math skills on a screen. We have been creative in getting some materials into the hands of our students, but it has been challenging for our students not to have access to many of the manipulatives that we have when at school. Help give our students some of the tools that will make our online math lessons more interactive and fun.

My Project

Our first graders have been learning at home since kindergarten. Our highly mobile students have had little access to hands-on materials. This has made practicing their math skills difficult because they don't always have internet access.

Our first graders need to be able to hold materials in their hands and write on whiteboards instead of a screen.

Please help us provide pattern blocks, math whiteboards, and counting materials for our students to practice their math skills. We want to provide a more interactive, personalized virtual learning experience for our young, enthusiastic learners.
