Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my mathematics classroom is very teacher-centered. We are a school district with little technology at our disposal. Because of this, there are fewer options to engage students individually. Students work hard with what they have, but would benefit with a more involved curriculum.
No matter their home life, students are excited to come to school.
I have never seen a school that had such spirit and excitement in its hallways. My 8th graders have a history of struggling in math and science. They continue to work in the classroom and are passionate about improving. My classes are made up of your typical teenage students with all of your standard teenage drama. However, I find it amazing how they support each other.
Whether it is an athletic event or even studying for a quiz, they build each other up. They are respectful of each other and push each other. I know it is a cliché, but I love going to work every day and watching these young men and women grow. I work in an amazing community filled with incredible parents and students. I only hope that I can do my part to help out.
My Project
The Apple TV provides a quick and easy way to stream our digital lessons from my iPad to the projector. It simplifies the process and puts less stress on the school network. It also provides an opportunity for educational applications via the app store.
Each project that has been funded has made for a more effective learning environment.
This streaming device will help to maintain the environment we have developed, as well as increase its effectiveness! My students will use this device for our classroom to enhance lessons and expand learning with the infusion of advanced technology.
