My Students

My students are embarking on their very first job in my classroom. We are creating a company in the virtual world. My students need to learn the "soft skills" that are so important in the real world, like being on-time to work.

My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds.

My virtual enterprise class is made up of juniors and seniors. My students come from all walks of life. Many of my students receive free or reduced lunch. They are all interested in working in a professional environment. They are receiving a "virtual paycheck" which will have to fill their "virtual needs." They will have to obtain housing, food, clothing and transportation to work.

My Project

My students are running an office in my classroom. They are receiving a paycheck twice a month. The payroll system I am requesting will give them a real-world skill as well as a more real-world experience. Payroll is a great career possibility for my students and now they will have hands on experience to relate to possible employers.

This class is an excellent opportunity for students to learn the responsibility of a regular job.

They will also learn about personal finance and the soft skills that they will use for the rest of their lives.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
