This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My scholars are very excited about learning and eager to participate in class discussions. I love their inquisitive minds and creative responses. My students love sharing ideas, demonstrating what they've learned, and helping each other. They are very outspoken with BIG personalities. My students bring a smile to my heart daily. I'm just amazed at some of their responses to higher order questions and the impact the learning environment is making them. My classroom culture is saturated with great leaders of tomorrow!

My Project

It is important that scholars have an opportunity to practice independently within small groups the basic essential to becoming a proficient reader. Scholars who use these resources will benefit by identifying letters and their respective sounds, then blending them thus reading words. The vision for the reading stations is to have a variety of resources available so scholars will not become bored but remain excited about learning. When students are having fun while mastering a skill, they are willing to practice more. These resources will help enable my kindergartener students in having a strong foundation in phonics and phonemic awareness ensuring literacy and first-grade readiness.
