My Project

I love the diversity in our classroom! Post pandemic kindergarten is much different. We are facing new educational challenges. Boys and girls have had very little exposure to anyone outside their own family, their own home OR their own culture. I love that we have many different languages spoken in the homes attached to our classroom but it does create some unique situations.

I love that the boys and girls in our classroom are trying to make friends and communicate with those new friends, even if they don`t have the same spoken language!

Puppets will help here....puppets are multilingual!

I believe that playing with puppets will help the students in my classroom communicate with one another in very concrete ways. "Making a puppet show" will help them find some commonalities as well highlighting their uniqueness. It will help them be creative, adventurous and less self conscious. Besides...puppets are so much fun. Being the princess or the farmer or the astronaut gets them thinking beyond themselves and their experience. Being someone else is freeing. As I watch and listen to their stories it will definitely give me some insights into their hearts and minds so that I can better meet them where they are.
