This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are inner city children and they love to experience new things. They are curious and love to learn about Science. Many of them have never been exposed to the subject or all of the amazing things they can learn about the world around them.

I would love to start a Science Club for my first graders.

I have several that are amazing when it comes to Science but often have trouble focusing when it comes to the rest of the day's activities. As part of the club, I would like to take them to the Bronx Zoo to attend some of the special programs where they will meet zoo keepers, veterinarians and animals, up close and personal. I also want to engage them in the Scientific Process an discover how exciting it is to experiment.

My Project

Some of my first graders are amazing in Science but have trouble focusing their behavior the rest of the day. I would love to give them a special outlet, using Science, to expand their knowledge and creativity. The books I'd like will be used to learn more about animals and how we can save them.

We are close to the Bronx Zoo I would also love to get them involved in the world of animals and how we can help them survive through conservation because even though they are only in first grade they can still make a big difference.
