Hooray! This project is fully funded
I'm a classroom teacher for 3 to 5-year-old students in a preschool setting. I serve students who have special needs and those who are typically developing.
My students love exploring their environment and creating through various classroom materials and interactions with peers and adults.
We provide opportunities during small and large group activities for students to learn with intentional teaching to meet group and individual needs. Students participate in these activities through active learning, exploring their environment and engaging with materials and adults.
My students are are always thinking, creating and anxious to play pretend especially when it involves costumes and puppets! The dramatic play area is one of the most popular in my classroom.
Dressing up in ethnic and community costumes allows students to take on new roles and build their language skills.
Puppets provide a medium for students to solve problems and communicate with peers. These types of toys also naturally bring kids together, joining students who have various school needs and ethnic backgrounds.
Dramatic play also gives students an opportunity to be a "hero" and learn how to give and take in social situations.
