My students are prekindergarten students who meet the state requirements and are labeled as being "at risk" of not succeeding, thus they are placed in the program to help them succeed. They are four years of age and live in a medium-large city.
Young children learn better when they have access to books and hands-on materials, and I am eager to expand my classroom and lending library and alphabet materials.
My classroom is a newer classroom and is in need of many materials to our curriculum. Although I provide as much as I can from my own stock of materials, sometimes newer and fresh materials grab their interest better.
My Project
Preschool children learn better when they have exposure to a wide variety of literature that is developmentally appropriate to their age. I am asking for theme book sets in common themes to expand my classroom library. I am also asking for a few books to expand my lending library, as books that go home don't always come back. In addition to reading, children also need exposure to the alphabet in many ways, which is why I'm also requesting letter builders and tactile letters.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more you learn, the more places you’ll go," Dr. Seuss. Children need to read, and they need to have books. We read to the children daily and would love to have more books in themes that are common (growing things, trucks, all about me, etc.) to the children. The tactile letters and letter building pieces will allow us to teach the alphabetic concepts to the children in a variety of ways, to reach those children that are not learning about our current materials.
