My students live in a residential facility and attend school in the same building. The preschool classroom is for medically fragile students with profound disabilities. All of my students are non-verbal and use assistive technology to help access their environment. They also use wheelchairs due to limited mobility. This year is their first school experience and we have already seen them grow.
My students are like typical kids, but we learn in a different way!
My students are curious, loving, and unique. They love hands-on activities and technology. In preschool, we are building the foundation for their future!
My Project
We need a Big Step-By-Step Communicator to give our students a voice. Without devices like these, our students are limited in their ability to fully participate in their day. This device allows messages to be recorded, letting the students choose what they want to say. It gives my students the opportunity to participate in class by answering questions and sharing information. It also allows them to make choices and communicate their wants and needs.
Students have to learn how to communicate to prepare for their future.
This simple device helps them develop that life-long skill. Please help my preschool students expand their independence by providing them with a voice.
