This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are creative, caring, and critical thinkers. April is Poetry Month, and they are going to be thinking through what poetry means to them. Poetry has the power to transform lives, and my students are ready to experience the dynamic power of poetry.

Providing this book to my students will give them the opportunity to read and analyze a diverse array of poems.

With this book, students will talk with their peers about authors' style & structure choices in poetry, and they will dig into examining recurring themes in poetry. As a culminating task in the unit, students will choose several poems from the book and create a presentation exploring a common theme in the poems they selected for their essay.
