This year I have an energetic class who are motivation, bright and have a thirst for knowledge. My first graders are a curious bunch and do well with a variety activity choices and tons of options!
My first grade friends love creating, building, writing and playing!
They enjoy exploring all of the classroom materials, and crave creativity when doing so. Incorporating new materials and new centers to support learning are super important to them.
The children in my class also love new ideas. Each time I introduce them to something new they are super excited to try it out. Their reaction to a new set of mini dry erasers was just as incredible as their reaction when introduced to a new math game.
My Project
Play sets the foundation for learning and how we interact in the world. With these materials my students will have the opportunity to engage and cooperate with one another through play. They will tap into their creativity through building with Legos, constructing words with letter blocks, inventing with Geosticks and imagining possibilities! They will build their social skills as playing and working together means speaking and listening to one another in a constructive way.
I want my students learning to be enhanced through the power of play.
Using these materials can and will build on students academic skills in all subject areas. Literacy skills will be enhanced and creativity will shine The children in my classroom will become engineers, readers, artists, writers, scientists and mathematicians through play.
It is my hope that my students will use what they are learning in school and apply it to the tools and materials that they play with and vice versa. I cannot wait for them to get started!
