My students love to play, and they learn best when engaging with all of the learning that gets done in kindergarten in a hands-on, active way.
Our school serves over 300 students, from Kindergarten to 3rd grade.
Each year we plan to add a new grade and grow with our students to 5th grade. Our students come to school eager to learn, smiling as they walk through the door each day. With over 95% receiving free/reduced school lunch, they live in a high-needs urban community. Families and our school work together to provide our students with the support, care, and rigor to set them on a positive path in their education.
My Project
Kindergartners learn all day long! They learn best through play and by being actively engaged. I have requested games like Grandma's Trunk, an alphabet game. Using games to help them access and master sight words, early literacy concepts, and math concepts such as addition and subtraction will bring all of these foundational ideas to life for them. These games will be used independently by students during centers time, helping them build confidence and independence, and practice vital social skills. Musical instruments will make our morning meeting and closing circles lively and full of fun. The requested dollhouse furniture will fill our classroom dollhouse for cooperative fun during choice time!
