Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Kindergarten class consists of 21 students who come in each morning eager to learn and do their absolute best.
I teach in a Title I school, located in a city booming with diversity, and students come from a wide range of backgrounds, speak a variety of languages, and have huge imaginations!
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method in which they learn best varies greatly. I make it my goal to incorporate a variety of learning strategies and opportunities to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! This diverse bunch is truly an incredible group, and I love watching them beam with excitement and confidence when they are successful!
My Project
Help give my students play-based learning centers! Research has shown the long-term benefits of high-quality play-based kindergarten programs, where children are exposed to learning and problem solving through self-initiated activities and teacher guidance.
Play is not frivolous, it enhances brain structure and function, promotes executive function and helps children learn to persevere, increase attention and navigate their emotions.
These items will be used during our play center time where students will get to choose where they would like to play. Meaningful activities and a variety of options give children the opportunity to stimulate their ability to discover and explore and even increases their concentration! Students will be given the chance to gain invaluable social-emotional skills through your donations!
