Help me give my students pencils, erasers, dry erase makers, a pencil sharpener, notebook paper, graph paper, and note-cards. My students need basic materials to succeed.
On a regular day, my classroom is filled with 6 classes of rambunctious, middle school students, that I often refer to as "my kids". These kiddos fill the desks (sometimes in very awkward positions) each day with all the energy and emotion you would expect from middle school aged students. Some of them are laughing while others are grumpy; some are snacking while others are hungry, but they all show up to be welcomed as my kids. My kids are learning who they are and who they want to be. They drive me crazy and keep me sane at the same time; and often they teach me more than I teach them. My students simply are my kids.
My Project
My students show up every day with the expectation that I will teach and they will learn. Many face several obstacles, but they continue to walk through the doors and enter my classroom. Some of them have the materials they need to be successful and others do not.
No student should be faced with the obstacle of not being able to afford school supplies.
Please help me get pencils, erasers, paper, not-cards, graph paper, and markers in the hands of the students I teach. These students will one day be our leaders, doctors, lawyers, business owners, teachers, police officers, nurses, ect. They will one day be the parents of future generations. Right now they may not understand what their future hold, or the impact of having all the materials they need each day. However, we know the ripple affect that will be made by giving them what they need. There is power if giving students a pencil.
