My Students
In my third grade classroom, we celebrate each other's differences, including our strengths and weaknesses. We come from different backgrounds, families, and socioeconomic situations. Some of us speak English, and some speak Spanish.
The thing that unites my sweet bunch of students is a love of learning, which I believe is the goal of education - to make life-long learners.
My third graders are some of the most genuine little humans, and I want to foster the down-to-earth, fun-loving, and caring spirit that permeates our classroom and gets us all excited to learn.
My Project
Osmo is a research-based, hands-on game accessory for iPads. The iPad sits in a base, and a reflective mirror attaches to the camera. With this mirror, the iPad can “see” the objects students place in front of it. These objects interact with the Osmo app to create somewhat of an augmented reality which students can manipulate in order to play educational games with hands-on materials.
Osmo's Coding Awbie game gives students the skills to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
It puts the concepts of coding on their level in the form of creative play while simultaneously encouraging the use of logic and problem-solving skills. These important skills can then expand into other areas like reading and math. That's the power of Osmo!
