This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are loving students in a small town outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. They are excited to come to school and be together as a community of learners. They beam as they get to learn new things. My students are at a Title I school and we are setting high expectations for the students, showing them that there is no limit to what they can learn.
A positive learning environment is what I strive to create for my students.
The students come to school curious and I want them to take risk and ask questions in a collaborative classroom. My students feel challenged everyday and they take pride in their work and what they accomplish.
My Project
My second grade students are amazing me this school year! We are a few months into school and the students are gaining a love for reading. As a teacher, a facilitator, I do my best to guide students to choose what books are appropriate from them to read based on their skill level. I want the students to have choices as it helps motivate the students to read more. I am in desperate need to get more authentic reading material into my classroom, to keep their passion for reading going. I am look for books at all different reading levels, as my classroom is made up of different learners.
I am looking for fantasy and realistic-fiction books that will take the students on a reading journey!
Familiar characters will be in the books they open; Mercy Watson, Fly Guy, Berenstain Bears, Wonder Woman, and several more. I want my students to love reading and to become confident readers. During reading workshop my students are reading and thinking! Thank you so much for your consideration of this project!
