This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a low income/high-poverty part of the city where they need opportunities to succeed. Kindergarten children need to start their learning journey early.
I teach at a Title I school in Virginia where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
For some of my students, this is their first school experience and I want to make it a great one. They really enjoy school and learning. As little learners, they also love to read, write, and grow.
My Project
The Kid Power Band syncs with an app that encourages kids to take steps and earn Power Points. The more points kids earn, the more food they can help UNICEF deliver to malnourished children around the world. With this lifesaving impact, kids become more aware of the world around them and are empowered to solve the challenges they face in their own communities
By using these power bands my students can get healthier by working out and they can help others around them have access to healthy nutritious food.
This tool would help my students make a powerful connection between technology and helping others.
