Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome to Third Grade! My students are bright English language learners with diverse strengths and challenges. They are enthusiastic, inquisitive, and hard-working. Many lack reading fluency and comprehension. These students also face many obstacles outside of the classroom.
I believe that each child is able to learn, grow, and succeed.
Yoga, creative movement, multi-sensory techniques, and strategies are incorporated into lessons to ensure the success of all learners. Students work hard to gain new skills, strategies, and a positive attitude about reading!
My Project
Through the PowerMyLearning Family Engagement Innovators Program, students will have access to unique Family Playlists. These teacher selected playlists are mobile-friendly and available in many languages. Family partners will receive a text message in their home language with a link to open a mobile-friendly version of the playlist (no sign-in required). Students will “teach” their family partners what they learned in class by completing a collaborative activity together at home. The student will drive content mastery and social emotional learning skills. Family partners will then send feedback to the teacher about the experience such as how well the child understood the concept or explained the lesson. Family partners can also include photos. This is a standards based program that is highly effective in meeting the needs of our students, friends and families.
