Our school is a Title I school trying to provide the always-changing resources needed to coordinate with the current educational standards which also change often.
With the upcoming school year, I am fortunate enough to be teaching a great group of sixth graders.
This group of students comes from a small, rural school that houses approximately three hundred kindergartens through sixth-grade students. Most of these students come from low-income and low socioeconomic status homes.
These particular students are high-energy and have the ability to design and create wonderful things with their academic successes. One obstacle they face is not having the resources needed to support their creativity. Teachers foster independence and to think "outside the box" to find ways to meet the students' needs the best we can, but the financial needs are greater than most teachers can provide.
My Project
Recently, my students entered in a challenge about engagement in learning. With their creativity and perseverance, my students managed to win a promethean panel for our classroom. We are very excited to use it, but have encountered some small challenges that will prevent us from using it to its full potential.
Promethean panels connect wirelessly to a Windows or Mac operating system.
Unfortunately, my only Windows operating computer is my ancient teacher desktop running Windows 7.
The goal of this project is to supply my students with a newer laptop that will run Windows 10. The laptop will serve as a center point for downloading software and uploading Promethean lessons to the panel. Students will then have an endless supply of resources for all subject areas., concentrating on math and economics courses I teach. The whole - group activities will get my students up and moving, keeping them engaged as we begin reviewing for state testing. Please support our new Promethran panel and help us discover the "Power in Promethean".
