Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students LOVE to read! In our classroom, we like to explore different genres. My fourth-grade students are also great goal setters and work hard to help everyone attain their goals. One of the reasons my students work so hard, is they have choices in their learning environment. Flexible seating has many benefits in the classroom. By providing flexible seating in the classroom, not only do the children get a choice in where they learn, but it allows them to be more comfortable which promotes focus-driven productivity. Classrooms were meant for learning, so why not be comfortable so that you can focus on what truly matters, growth through learning!
My Project
Having a flexible seat friendly classroom encourages a classroom that feels like a home away from home. With providing students with a variety of seating options, you are ensuring the comfort and overall focus and hard work of every student. This comfort also transfers into their willingness to try new things and take change in stride. The ball chairs will allow for comfortable seating while still allowing the students to wiggle, which traditional school standard chair fail to provide. Having flexible seating also encourages a sense of community and collaboration between students. For example, during group assignments, many students prefer to work together laying on the floor. The floor cushions would allow the students to collaborate better, by allowing them to sit comfortably in their group circles. The saucer and inflatable chairs will allow students to read in more comfortable sitting positions, another standard that traditional school standard chairs are not able to provide. With flexible seating, we are creating future leaders who will be able to make smart decisions; and that starts with flexible seating!
