I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to work with 6 amazing students, my very first year of teaching. My eager to learn, second and third graders are full of energy every single day! They always enter school with a smile on their face, ready to take on the day.
"See the able not the label."
I teach a very diverse group of students who have various abilities. When meeting their needs, I try to be creative as I can! Some of my students are learning the alphabet and letter sounds while others are learning to read. Some of my students are writing sentences while others are learning how to hold a pencil and sit in their seat. My students are hard working and persistent. Despite the many challenges they face day in and day out, they remain determined to learn.
An iPad would do wonders for my classroom as the possibilities are endless. iPads bring things to life and provide students another way to learn. Books could be read aloud to my students, math applications could be downloaded to assist my students in the learning process. Some of my students would benefit GREATLY from the writing applications that are available on the iPad as holding a pencil and learning to form letters is a challenge for them. Having the ability to learn in a fun and engaging way would only add that much more to my classroom. There are many communication applications that could be purchased to give those a voice. The possibilities are endless and technology is a great way to support such diverse needs and ability levels!
