This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

You would not believe how much time we spend on the floor in kindergarten. These foam tiles will allow us plenty of space to sit and do movement activities.

I teach in a great school with great children.

We have a high percentage of free and reduced lunch children. Several children come to me never having sat with a group on a rug. They don't know what personal space means and have trouble figuring out where they are supposed to go (where their own spot is).

My Project

Have you ever had a spot that was all your own. This floor mat will be divided so the children will be able to find their spot quickly and with great success. Each 2 foot square will give the children plenty of space so they are not touching others. We can also use the area without worrying about slipping and falling.

Movement is very important in kindergarten and these foam tiles will allow us to do movement activities safely and also give us our own defined space when we gather together for a story or a lesson.

It is also much easier to clean than a carpet and we all know a kindergarten room can get messy.
