My Students

My students come from low-income homes. 1/3 of my students receive free or reduced lunches. Since the last school year was so rough, I have seen a lack of will power or motivation in some of them.

My students are very talkative but also eager to learn.

They come from extremely diverse backgrounds, and they struggle with behavior, academics, and some with second language acquisition.

My Project

I am hoping for a new teacher chair that I can use to motivate my students to stay focused on their classwork. I don't know what it is but second graders love to feel in charge. Imagine them being in a teacher chair. As a first year teacher, I have a plastic student chair with wheels. It's very old and uncomfortable. The students always ask me why don't I have a comfy chair? In addition, this comfy teacher chair will also be utilized in small groups for students that have a harder time to focus as a reward!
