My Students
Our 7th grade is comprised of around 115 amazing students, who come from very diverse backgrounds, bilingual households, receive free or reduced lunch and attend a Title I school. Our goal is to prepare our 7th graders for high school, college and career. With these Google Virtual reality headsets, I plan to change their typical learning experiences about history. Instead of reading a textbook about the Boston Tea Party or a Civil War battle, they will use these headsets to visit the cite of the Boston Tea Party or civil war battle. Using technology to teach about the past will make the student experience more meaningful and motivating. We believe this is a way to close the achievement gap, inspire higher levels of learning and thinking and continue the path to academic excellence.
My Project
The five Google Headsets will be used every day in our Social Studies classes. With your donation, all of my classes will have access to the technology. With the transition to Common Core, students have been given larger, real-world problems that require technology at an earlier age. Introducing the Google Headsets in the 7th grade means that we will be able to explore content in many different ways. Using technology to teach about the past will make the student experience more meaningful and motivating. We believe this is a way to close the achievement gap, inspire higher levels of learning and thinking and continue the path to academic excellence.
