Help me give my students multiple copies of the books on our county-wide book battle list so that they read as much as possible and are better prepared to compete.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students suffered greatly due to extensive historic flooding last year during Harvey. Our town experienced flooding that has not been seen since 1905. Approximately sixty percent (60%) of the town was under water for approximately ninety-six (96) hours. Additionally, there was water damage sustained at the Junior High due to wind-driven rain. Our community has suffered greatly but our students have risen above all of the adversities due to the one constant in their lives, education.
Our district population is approximately eighty percent (80%) low socio-economic and the destruction brought by Hurricane Harvey has only amplified the struggle of this community.
Our academic achievements at the campus have improved greatly despite challenges faced last school year. Our students have shown great perseverance in light of adversity and we as a district want to continue to provide a stable and challenging academic experience for all students.
My Project
Our community is recovering from Hurricane Harvey and ready to participate in a book battle contest.
Please help support my students by providing copies of books by award-winning authors.
Titles such as Refugee, Warcross and Frogkisser are on the reading list of our county-wide book battle contest. By providing multiple copies of these books and six others on the list, students who participate in the book battle will have more books to pass around and share among the group. The more titles each participant can read before the April contest will better prepare them to compete.
Our students cannot afford to purchase their own copies of these books. The school library does provide one paper copy and one electronic copy of these books, but two copies is not enough for all of the students interested in the contest to share and be able to read before the deadline.
At the end of the contest, the books bought through this project will be distributed to the students who participated for them to take home and keep.
