Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many children do not realize the cause-and-effect relationship between their choices and their future. This novel and access to technology will benefit them positively and encourage them to make the best choice to better themselves.
I teach high risk children and children with special needs in the Baltimore City Public School System.
The students I teach need to understand the correlation between their behaviors and natural consequences. This novel illustrates that connection by following two children with the same name who make very different decisions and thus live very different lives.
My Project
Not only do the students need to make good decisions to succeed but also need to be fluent in the use of technology. Having laptops and computers in the special needs classroom will foster their skills and enable them to become more successful in school and in life. In addition, the new math program requires that they take assessments, watch video animations and complete homework on the Internet website Agilemind. Students without access to computers and internet at home are at a disadvantage. They can use my desktop in my classroom but we also desperately need a laptop.
With your donation my students will be able to learn important real life lessons and technology skills.
At this young age it is important for them to learn to make positive choices. Please, please help us get all these exciting supplies for our class. Everything you donate will be greatly appreciated! Every little bit helps!
