This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever wondered if one decision you made in your life could have created a completely different path where you would have ended up in a completely different situation?
Our public high school serves approximately 1,900 students.
These students come from a large military community with a variety of different cultural experiences and backgrounds. Many come from economically disadvantaged homes and will attend several different schools before completing high school. Despite these challenges, our students are actively engaged learners who thrive in a stimulating learning environment.
My Project
Because of the background of many of our students, they need a positive role model to look up to. This book will help our media program motivate our students to always become the best representation of their community and family possible. Encouraging students to read this book and discuss in a classroom setting will hopefully help them make better choices in their lives.
By donating to this project, the media program will be able to offer this resource to the students in our school.
The media specialists will collaborate with a variety of teachers using this book in order to reach as many at risk teens as possible. Seeing a real-life example of the power of choice will be very eye-opening.
