My Students
I teach in a large, inner-city school district in West Oakland. My school has approximately 300 students between transitional kindergarten and fifth grade. We have five values that we instill in our students; Kindness, Perseverance, Healthiness, Curiosity, and Ownership.
I have 90 bright, energetic minds in my fourth and fifth-grade math classroom.
Although my students come from challenging life situations, I strive every day to expose them to a rigorous and creative curriculum that sparks a love of becoming a life-long learner. I encourage my students to work hard for what they want to achieve!
My Project
Binders will allow students to take charge of their learning and keep them organized. Students will be able to make the math choices that work best for them to master math curriculum. They will use these math binders to enhance the math curriculum and their understanding of math concepts as well as choose strategies that work for them personally.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them a place to store math concepts and strategies that have been taught.
I have seen how being organized in math can positively affect my students work habits, improve their grades, and help to make them life long learners.
