The Nonfiction Nook: Building Background Knowledge Through Facts and Details
My students need great nonfiction literature to read in order to learn more facts and details about our Earth, it's inhabitants, and components. These books contain needed information to build important background knowledge.
My students come from many different backgrounds and locations. Many of the students in my classroom are from military families that are transferred to our area. These students bring tremendous background knowledge of locations where they have previously lived.
All of my students are eager learners that want to broaden their horizons and dig into their skills each day!
Each student is an important part of the makeup of our classroom. They look forward to a learning challenge!
I sure do enjoy motivating them and teaching them using varied techniques in an effort to reach all types of learners! I look forward to every day with them!
My Project
My students come to school with a beginning foundation of fact and detail knowledge related to our world. It is my goal to build upon that baseline and immerse my students in facts and details all year long. I will use these Gail Gibbons nonfiction books to enhance my units throughout the year and I will increase student knowledge and interest in subject areas throughout the curriculum.
Students will expand their knowledge base through facts and details shared in these exciting Gail Gibbons nonfiction books!
Help me reach my goal to build a love for reading while increasing the knowledge of children!
