Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This is my first year as the middle school art teacher and I would love to expose the scholars of the 21st century to the vast and wonderful world of art. So many of our students have artistic abilities but have not been exposed to the multiple numbers of genres that make up the creative art spectrum. I believe that Creative Art will provide the scholars with an opportunity to express themselves in positive ways with projects and assignments that not only will give them a better understanding and appreciation of art but also of themselves.

Our scholars need art to provide them with an outlet that allows them to create their own beauty and truth.

It is amazing to see the response of scholars that become so enthralled into a project that they become oblivious to their surroundings. As an artist, I know the joy of "losing" yourself within the world of creativity and endless possibilities.

My Project

These items will help to replenish some of the supplies I've exhausted with my former scholars. The modeling clay was a smash with all ages, so I want to keep the creativity flowing! Also the rolling suitcase I've used since the first quarter is on it’s last leg.

A brand new sturdy art cart will help me roll on through the rest of the school year!

I'm certain my art scholars will love etching their rainbow color sheets to show the brighter side of things. Finally, the glue sticks have literally and figuratively helped me and my students keep it together!
