The New Norm! Equipping for Learning in Today's Hybrid Classroom
Help me give my students the necessary tools to teach them virtually and safely by setting up the classroom with the tools necessary to teach students virtually and online at the same time.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I love to hear, "Mrs. Ramseur, What did I get on my test? Did you grade it yet?" It lets me know that they get it and are striving for the best. Teaching in the inner city, it is important to hear and see this level of engagement. Many of my students need additional support just to show up daily. Not to just be here physically but to be present in the room, ready and willing to learn.

My Project
Right now, I am tasked to teach the roomers and the zoomers simultataneously in a hybrid classroom. The multi-height desk, kneeling chair and extra monitor will allow me to create a fluid setup to create a space to quickly view the students who are attending class remotely while still focusing on students in front of me. It will also give both sets of students the ability to interact with each other and myself to become integrated in our "new normal". The equipment selected will help to increase engagement, focus and availability to both student sets with ease. I am a high-risk educator attempting to put the needs of my students ahead of my own. Having a safe way to deliver instruction will go along way to helping meet this goal. Providing students with their own headphones, helps reduce cross contamination while increasing their ability to receive reinforcement of critical content while helping them stay focused on their learning.
