Help me give my students Fire 7 Kids Edition Tablet 2-Pack, 16GB (Pink/Yellow) Kid-Proof Case. These gadgets will be used to motivate students in becoming better writers and editors.
I work at a Title I school in which most students speak a different language at home. Majority of the students are from a Hispanic background. I teach a variety of subjects from reading/math to science and social studies. At the school I teach in, 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students do not speak English at home, come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. These elementary students also come from single-parent homes, some have grandparents raising them or are in financial need.
The use of technology is in almost every activity in my classroom. My class consisted of mostly boys and they are the ones who are not staying on task due to lack of interest. I now want to integrate the use of technology in my writing sessions. Each student must first complete a draft writing with the use of a graphic organizer. They will draw their own pictures to match their story. The students will use peer editing to make the necessary corrections. Then they will use the tablets to create their story video, at this time they will write the story to the slides, take a picture of their drawing and upload to their slides and record their own voice while reading the story. When all students have completed their stories then the teacher will have them watch the story videos.
By contributing to our project, you will not only help to keep students actively engaged, but you will also eventually help to heighten their interest, thus improving their writing and editing skills.
Students will also improve sentence formation and spelling of words. Since we are in a technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will motivate students to do well in their writing tasks.
